Alfonsa María Eppinger (1814–1867)

An Alsatian nun, Isabel Eppinger—Alfonsa María—discovered in her illnesses a call to contemplate the mercy of Christ and serve those who suffered.
Biography
The firstborn of eleven children in a rural family, she helped at home from a young age and experienced long periods of physical fragility. The Eucharist became the center of his life. In 1849 she founded the Sisters of the Holy Savior, dedicated to visiting and caring for poor sick people in their homes. He governed the new community with simplicity, prudence and a spirit of prayer, teaching to unite bodily relief with spiritual consolation.
