Alfredo Cremonesi (1902–1953)
missionary priest
A priest of the Pontifical Institute of Foreign Missions, Alfredo Cremonesi served for decades among the people of Burma.
Biography
He toured villages, formed Christian communities and persevered despite malaria, war and repeated displacements. When violence threatened his people again, he returned to the mission so as not to abandon it. In 1953 he was killed by soldiers while trying to protect the inhabitants of a village. His martyrdom crowned a life of faithful presence: the shepherd remains with his people especially when danger arrives.
Practical advice
Don't abandon a person today at an uncomfortable moment; Stay close and ask how you can hold her.
