Biography
At twelve years old, Anita was an employee in a lingerie store and at eighteen she worked as a domestic worker. Three years later she married Domenico Taigi, butler of the Chigi palace. They had seven children, and also had to take in Anita's relatives. "With the six escudos I earned a month - her husband said - we would have died of hunger. Thanks to my wife's prayers, we never lacked anything; that's why I let her pray as much as she wanted and I didn't worry about anything else." Both the husband and his father had outbursts of bad mood and unbearable whims. Anita avoided contradicting them and calmed the storm with her complacent words. She was sweet, affectionate, organized at work and very happy. He educated his children excellently. All of them testified that they had had a happy childhood and lived as good Christians.
