Anna Schäffer (1882–1925)
Missionary religious
German laywoman, Ana Schäffer turned more than twenty years of illness and pain into a fruitful mission of prayer and consolation.
Biography
While working to gather the necessary dowry with which he hoped to enter a missionary congregation, he suffered a work accident: he fell into boiling water and his legs were severely burned. Numerous operations failed to cure her and she remained almost always in bed. The Eucharist, the contemplation of the cross and the embroidery that she offered to others sustained her life. He received many people, wrote letters and accompanied their sorrows, making his room a small school of hope.
