He was pope from approximately 153 to 165.
Biography
The elderly bishop of Smyrna, Saint Polycarp, visited him to get the Church of Rome to celebrate the feast of Easter on the same date as the Church of the East: they could not agree but they parted as good friends.
Practical advice
With the desire to sanctify the everyday, teach a truth of faith with clarity and affection, remembering that holiness is built in the ordinary.
