Antonio Lucci (1682–1752)
Bishop
Franciscan bishop of Bovino, Antonio Lucci combined study, evangelical simplicity and tireless charity towards the poor.
Biography
Before becoming a bishop he was a theology professor, trainer and counselor, but he always maintained an austere style. In his diocese he renewed the life of the clergy, personally taught the catechism and defended peasants and the weak against abuse. He founded free schools for needy children and provided food and clothing to those who could not support themselves.
