Antonio Rosmini (1797–1855)
Founding priest
Italian priest, philosopher and founder, Antonio Rosmini sought to show harmony between faith and reason and worked for a faithful renewal of the Church.
Biography
Ordained in 1821, he developed extensive intellectual work and founded the Institute of Charity and the Sisters of Providence. Some of his proposals raised controversy and several works were placed on the Index, proof that he accepted with obedience and serenity. The Church later recognized the rectitude of his intention, the depth of his thought and his life of charity.
