Apollonius (2nd century)
confessor of faith
He suffered martyrdom in Rome, under the command of Commodus.
Biography
As he was an important and highly cultured person, famous philosophers attended his trial, and he was treated with great consideration. The magistrate told him: “Make me understand something of those Christian mysteries for which you are going to die.” To which Apollonius responded "Only the Word of God can give you faith since in these matters, one man is not capable of making another see it, in the same way that the light of day cannot shine for the blind."
Practical advice
As an offering to the Lord, ask for strength to be loyal to Christ in difficulties with peace, perseverance and good humor.
