Artaldo (+III)
Bishop
He was born in Songieu, France, and was a child to whom God granted many talents and virtues.
Biography
He was a page to Amadeus of Savoy where he was known for never flattering, asking or lying. At the age of twenty, he left the court to enter the Portes charterhouse. He immediately made himself loved, because he preferred to choose the most uncomfortable tasks. His brothers said that when they saw him celebrate the Holy Mass they believed more in the real presence of the Lord in the Eucharist. The bishop of Genoa commissioned Artaldo to found a charterhouse in his diocese, and except for a brief interval when he was forced to be a bishop, he spent the rest of his life there. He died at the age of one hundred and five, kneeling in ashes and reciting a psalm of thanksgiving.
Practical advice
As soon as you have the opportunity, be grateful for the good received through the sacraments like someone who works and prays under the loving gaze of God.
