Artemide Zatti (1880–1951)
Salesian religious
Salesian brother, nurse and pharmacist in Argentine Patagonia, Artémides Zatti dedicated his life to the sick and poor.
Biography
He emigrated from Italy with his family and worked since he was a teenager. Contracting tuberculosis while caring for a priest, he promised Mary Help of Christians to serve the sick if he regained his health. Cured, he professed as a lay Salesian and assumed the administration and care of the Viedma hospital for decades. He toured the city by bicycle, visited houses and received each patient like Jesus, with competence, patience and good humor.
Practical advice
Take care of a sick person today by calling them by name and listening to what they really need.
