Biography
A Spanish Dominican born Florentina Nicol Goñi, Ascensión del Corazón de Jesús was an educator before leaving as a missionary to Peru. There he collaborated with Bishop Ramón Zubieta and founded the Dominican Missionaries of the Most Holy Rosary, dedicated to evangelization, education and care of Amazonian peoples. He overcame cultural tensions, difficult journeys, and great responsibilities with obedience and joy. His work left a deep mark on the mission of the Church because he knew how to form local communities and serve while respecting the reality of each town.
