Batilde

(634-680) Of Anglo-Saxon origin, she was still a child when she was kidnapped by pirates and sold to the palace steward of King Clovis II of Neustria.

Biography

He fell in love with her and made her his queen. They had three children, but unfortunately, the king died at the age of twenty-four. Batilde held the regency, surrounded herself with good advisors, and governed with justice and mercy. However, the nobles ended up uniting against her and banished her to the Abbey of Chelles, where she spent the rest of her life forgiving her enemies, taking on the most humble tasks and caring for the sick.
