Abbess
She was born in Soissons, France and was a nun in Jouarre, a dozen years ago, when Queen Batilde put her at the head of the monastery that she had founded in Chelles.
Biography
Shortly after, Batilde, dethroned, was taken away and imprisoned for life in that monastery. Bertila survived her by thirty years and was abbess until her death.
