Austrian priest and martyr of Nazism, Carlos Lampert defended the freedom of the Church against the interference of the regime.
Biography
A canonist and pro-vicar of Innsbruck-Feldkirch, he denounced the suppression of monasteries and publicly remembered priests who died in the fields. He was arrested repeatedly, taken to Dachau and Sachsenhausen and then confined to Pomerania. A spy network fabricated accusations of treason and revelation of military secrets against him. Sentenced to death, he was beheaded on November 13, 1944 after forgiving and reaffirming his trust in Christ.
