Biography
Saint Catherine, martyr, was according to tradition a virgin of Alexandria endowed with sharp wit, wisdom and strength of spirit. His body is piously venerated in the famous monastery of Mount Sinai.
Historical data about this saint, beheaded on November 24 or 25, 305 by order of Emperor Maximinus, are very scarce. The episode of his martyrdom inspired a widespread legend.
