Catherine Thomas (1531–1574)
Augustinian nun
Orphaned since she was a child in Mallorca, Catalina Tomás worked taking care of her relatives' livestock and sought moments of prayer next to small altars that she built under the olive trees.
Biography
With spiritual help, she overcame numerous resistances and entered the monastery of the Canonesses Regular of Saint Augustine in Palma. There he lived with humility, obedience and deep contemplative prayer. Her spiritual gifts became known and even the bishop came to her for advice, but she remained faithful to the simple community life until her death.
