February 22
Chair of Saint Peter the Apostle
Feast
The Chair of Saint Peter is not primarily a piece of furniture but a sign of the teaching mission entrusted by Christ to Peter and his successors.
Biography
This feast celebrates the unity of the Church around the faith confessed by the Apostle: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” The Bishop of Rome serves that unity by strengthening his brothers and safeguarding the apostolic faith. Catholics therefore observe this day with gratitude for the gift of the papal ministry and with prayer for the Pope, that he may guide the Church in truth and charity.
Practical advice
Without seeking recognition, prepare carefully for a conversation in which you must guide someone, with outward order and inner recollection.
