Cayetano Catanoso (1879–1963)
Priest
Italian priest and apostle of the Holy Face, Cajetan Catanoso brought the Gospel to poor and isolated communities in Calabria.
Biography
Ordained in 1902, he was parish priest in Pentidattilo, where he fought illiteracy and religious ignorance through catechism, school and a constant presence. He promoted vocations, supported single priests and founded the Veronica Sisters of the Holy Face to serve those most in need. He contemplated the face of Christ in the Eucharist and in each person who suffered. His intense pastoral activity arose from the decision to live continually in the presence of God.
