Ceferino Namuncurá (1886–1905)

A young Argentine Mapuche and Salesian student, Ceferino Namuncurá wanted to train to spiritually serve his people.
Biography
Son of the chief Manuel Namuncurá, he was sent to study in Buenos Aires, where he learned about the spirituality of Saint John Bosco and took Saint Dominic Savio as a model. He clearly expressed his desire to be a priest, but he fell ill with tuberculosis. He traveled to Italy seeking recovery and continued his studies with remarkable serenity; He died in Rome at the age of eighteen without achieving the ordination he longed for.
