Born Mariana Donati in Tuscany, Celestina felt a religious vocation from a young age, but remained at home for many years due to her father's opposition and dependence.
Biography
With the guidance of the Piarist Celestino Zini he finally started a community dedicated to poor and abandoned children. She founded the Poor Daughters of San José de Calasanz, known as calasancias, and opened homes and schools where education was united with family affection. He knew how to welcome his own father within the new circumstances. His perseverance reconciled the call of God with the responsible care of family ties.
