Clare of Montefalco (1268–1308)
Augustinian Abbess
Italian Augustinian religious and Passion mystic, Clare of Montefalco taught that the crucified Christ must occupy the center of the heart.
Biography
As a child she joined the small prayer retreat founded by her sister Juana, which eventually became a monastery under the Rule of Saint Augustine. Elected abbess, she guided the community with prudence, charity and attention to those who sought advice. He experienced interior trials and an intense union with the sufferings of Jesus, but he retained a balanced and helpful spirit. Before dying he repeated that he carried Christ within his heart.
Practical advice
Accept a setback today without unloading it on others and consciously unite it to the Passion of Christ.
