Columba Marmion (1858–1923)
Benedictine priest
An Irish Benedictine monk and Abbot of Maredsous, Columba Marmion was one of the great spiritual teachers of the 20th century.
Biography
A priest of the diocese of Dublin, he left a promising career to embrace monastic life in Belgium. As a trainer, preacher and abbot he taught that holiness consists of participating, by grace, in the filial life of Christ. His lectures gave rise to widely distributed books, among them Christ, life of the soul. During the First World War he cared for his monks and supported the community with prudence and trust.
Practical advice
Slowly repeat the Lord's Prayer today and experience a difficulty with the confidence of a child, not with the anxiety of someone who is alone.
