Cuthbert (1544)
Priest
Originally from Devonshire, England, he had been sent to Oxford by his uncle, an Anglican minister who reserved his parish for him.
Biography
Cuthbert converted to “popery” and was ordained a priest in France. He then exercised his ministry in British Cornwall. There they discovered him after a year in the house of a friend who gave him shelter. Sentenced to death “for having introduced superstition to the country and having celebrated the Roman mass”, Cutbertom was dismembered in the main square of Launceston.
