He was Pope from 366-384.
Biography
He is famous for his fervor in promoting the cult of the martyrs of Rome. He restored the old cemeteries, recorded in the inscriptions the memories of the great persecutions, thereby definitively promoting the cult of those saints. Furthermore, at the request of Pope Damasus, Saint Jerome translated the Bible into Latin.
