Domingo Iturrate (1901–1984)

Trinitarian priest

Priest of the Trinitarian Order in Algorta, Spain.

Biography

Although he died very young, at the age of 26, he had committed himself, with the consent of his spiritual director, to “do what he knew to be more perfect.” According to him, the important thing is not to “do many things, but to do well everything that pleases God,” and he always tried to do so. In the ceremony of his Beatification, on October 30, 1984, John Paul II highlighted the following characteristics of this young priest: - His Trinitarian and Eucharistic experience. He oriented everything towards the Trinity and contemplated everything from this ineffable mystery. “It was true madness, says a witness, what Brother Domingo felt about the Eucharist.” - He was deeply Marian: “I belong to Jesus and Mary; therefore, do with me what pleases you most.”
