Donatian and Saint Rogatian

Martyrs

They lived in Nantes in the 3rd century, during the mandate of Maximinus who had set out to put an end to Christianity.

Biography

They were brothers, the first and eldest had received baptism and the second was preparing, but someone denounced them and the judge had them locked up for propagating the cult of the crucified Jesus and not wanting to worship Jupiter and Apollo. Then he tried to convince the minor to refuse to receive baptism and renounce his faith and he could not, so he ordered the guards: "Take this imbecile to his teacher of foolishness. Tomorrow the executioner's sword will make them atone for their insults to the princes and the gods." The next day, after being tortured on the rack, they were beheaded. The brothers spent the night praying and the eldest baptized the little one with his tears because they had no water and their martyrdom took them to heaven as glorious martyrs.

Practical advice

In a spirit of service, calmly defend a truth that others prefer to keep silent about and offer that effort for someone who needs help.
