Biography
In his childhood and youth he received a good literary training and also in the art of painting, goldsmithing and playing the harp. Following a serious illness, he became a monk. He restored Grastobury Abbey. He lived in exile in Ghent until he was recalled by King Edgar and passed from the episcopal see of Worchester to that of London and finally to that of Canterbury. He is remembered as a great renewer of Christian life in England.
