Eleazar (2nd century, BC)
Martyr
The Holy Bible, in the 2nd book of Maccabees (Chap.
Biography
6) tells the story of this martyr. He was a man of advanced age and noble appearance. The envoys of the impious King Antiochus wanted to force him to disobey the law of God, eating forbidden meats, or at least pretending to do so, to save him from death because of the ancient friendship that united them. But Eleazar did not consent to this so as not to give a bad example to the young people, and he died beaten, praising God.

As an offering to the Lord, accept a setback without complaining, putting the result in God's hands.
