Biography
Eliswa Vakayil, a widow and mother, was a pioneer of women's religious life in Kerala. With Saint Kuriakose Elías Chavara she founded a Carmelite community dedicated to prayer and the education of girls. His life shows that holiness grows when prayer becomes concrete and persevering service.
