Emilia de Vialar (1797–1856)
Religious missionary founder
French nun and missionary founder, Emilia de Vialar put her heritage and abilities at the service of all kinds of suffering.
Biography
From a young age he cared for the poor and sick of Gaillac, despite his father's opposition. In 1832 he founded the Sisters of Saint Joseph of the Apparition, dedicated to education, health and missions. He traveled to Algeria and promoted foundations in the Mediterranean, Africa, Asia and Australia. He suffered economic losses, conflicts and slander, but he maintained his trust in God and his willingness to start again. He died in Marseille, leaving a community spread across several continents.
