Abbot
In his youth he entered the abbey of Zwiefalten, on Lake Constance, where he ruled as abbot for six years.
Biography
In 1146 Ernest resigned to embark on the Second Crusade, joining the German troops of Emperor Conrad III. When saying goodbye he said to his brothers: “I don't count on seeing you again down here because God commands me to shed my blood for Him,” and indeed, Ernesto shed his blood for Christ.
Practical advice
During this day, pray for a priest who goes through a difficulty doing everything for the love of God.
