Æthelbert (560–616)

King

Saint Ethelbert (560-616) Ethelbert was king of Kent, in the southeastern corner of England, and received Saint Augustine of Canterbury and his monks in 597, the probable date of his conversion, which was undoubtedly influenced by his wife Bertha, already a Christian, a Frankish princess, daughter of Caribert, king of Paris.

Biography

Unlike what usually happened in these cases, he did not force his subjects to embrace Christianity, but this monarch, very influential in the south of this island, had the cathedral of Saint Andrew built in Rochester and contributed to the conversion of Sabertus, king of the East Saxons, in whose territory he had the primitive cathedral of Saint Paul built in London.

Practical advice

With the desire to sanctify everyday life, make a visit to the Blessed Sacrament, even if it is brief and also take care of the small details.
