Evaristo, Theodulus and other martyrs of Crete (3rd century)
Martyrs
During the persecutions of Decius, the proconsul of Crete summoned the people of Gortyna, capital of the island, to inaugurate a temple dedicated to the goddess Fortune.
Biography
Ten Christians came to protest, among whom were Teódulo and Evaristo. They knew what awaited them, and it was what they wanted. They protested and were sentenced to death. At the time of the execution everyone wanted to go first, and it was necessary for Theodulus to tell them the order in which they could suffer martyrdom.
