The Exaltation of the Holy Cross celebrates the instrument of Christ’s suffering as the sign of his victory and saving love.
Biography
What appeared to be defeat became the place where the Son offered himself to the Father and reconciled humanity to God. Christians do not glorify pain for its own sake; they venerate the Cross because Jesus transformed suffering through love and opened the way to resurrection. To take up one’s cross is therefore to follow him in faithfulness, service, forgiveness, and hope.
Practical advice
When you have the opportunity, spend a few minutes asking for holy and generous vocations, and begin again humbly if it does not go well.
