He appears in the ancient martyrologies in the company of the saints Hermogenes, Gaius, Aristonicus, Rufus and Galatians who, like him, died for the faith in Melitene, Armenia, throughout the first centuries. It was believed, based on his name, that he should be in charge of ensuring the rapid execution of matters. It became very popular in Germany and France.
