Bishop
Bishop of Toulouse, France, he is one of the great bishops whose fearlessness in the face of invading barbarians has become legendary.
Biography
Saint Jerome says of him: “I cannot, without crying, pronounce the name of this city that would already be in ruins if it had not had the holy bishop Exuperius to defend it.” He drove back the barbarians by sprinkling holy water on them from the top of the walls and sold chalices and other sacred objects to feed the hungry faithful.
