Philemon (1st century)
confessor of faith
He was a wealthy citizen of Colossae (south of the Black Sea) who was converted by Saint Paul and who since then dedicated himself to evangelizing his fellow citizens.
Biography
He had among his slaves a quite clever one who the Apostle also converted, and who is known as Saint Onesimus. More details about these two saints, the master and the slave, can be found in the admirable Epistle to Philemon, the canonical text of the New Testament.
Practical advice
Trusting in God's grace, pray for the missionaries and for those who do not yet know Christ, remembering that holiness is built in the ordinary.
