Flavius (6th century)

confessor of faith

Born in Lombardy, Italy, he was taken prisoner by the Franks to Champagne.

Biography

A farmer from the region bought him and married him to one of his slaves named Apolonia. Flavio was an attractive boy and his master's wife fell in love with him. Flavio discreetly rejected her, and the woman accused him, first of wanting to seduce her, and then of stealing her husband. As this gentleman was prudent, before condemning his slave, he found out the truth of the accusations both times, discovering Flavio's innocence. He then decided to give freedom to Flavio and his wife Apolonia so that both could enter the service of God as they had long desired: she as a nun and Flavio as a hermit. Since then its reputation for sanctity spread and this town was later called Saint-Flavy.

Practical advice

Today, in the presence of God, examine at the end of the day where God was closest to you and start again with humility if it doesn't go well.
