Francisco María de la Cruz Jordan (1848–1918)
Missionary Founding Priest
German priest and founder of the Salvatorians, Francisco María de la Cruz Jordan wanted to mobilize all means and all vocations so that people would know Jesus Christ.
Biography
Ordained in 1878, he studied oriental languages and during a trip to the Holy Land his apostolic project matured. In Rome he founded the Society of the Divine Savior and, with Blessed Mary of the Apostles, the Congregation of the Sisters of the Divine Savior. He supported missions, training and publications, trusting in Providence even amidst misunderstandings and poverty.
