Genaro Fueyo Castañón, Segundo Alonso González, Isidro Fernández Cordero and Antonio González Alonso, martyrs (+1936)
Martyrs
The parish priest Genaro Fueyo and three lay people from Nembra, Asturias, were martyrs of the Eucharist during the Spanish religious persecution.
Biography
Segundo Alonso, Isidro Fernández and Antonio González were husbands and fathers, workers and members of the Nocturnal Adoration. In October 1936 they were arrested for their faith and taken to the desecrated parish church. Forced to dig their own graves, they wanted to stay close to the altar and the place where they used to participate in mass. They faced death united, praying and without denying Christ. His testimony shows the holiness possible in a parish, a family and an ordinary job.
Practical advice
Reserve a moment of adoration today and ask for the Christian fidelity of your family and parish.
