Genaro Maria Sarnelli (1702–1744)
Redemptorist missionary priest
Italian Redemptorist priest, Genaro María Sarnelli left the legal profession to evangelize and defend exploited people.
Biography
He collaborated closely with Saint Alphonsus Maria de Ligorio in popular missions in Naples and its surroundings. He was especially dedicated to rescuing women subjected to prostitution and caring for children used in heavy labor, in addition to promoting a permanent mission in the poorest neighborhoods. The effort exhausted his health and he died at the age of forty-one.
