Gerald (850–909)
confessor of faith
Nobleman from Aurillac, France, after several adventures, was confirmed in his resolution to be “celibate for the Kingdom of Heaven” and to live in everything according to the Gospel.
Biography
He mortified himself in secret, prayed a lot, set a good example and was constantly in the presence of God. He considered his servants as his brothers and tried to help them in everything. He was very merciful, and liked nothing as much as forgiving those who committed a crime. Geraldo lost his sight seven years before he died. He was buried in the beautiful Aurillac Abbey that he had founded, and his tomb attracted numerous pilgrims there.
