Geraldo (+1109)

Bishop

Born in Quercy, France, this saint was taken to Toledo by the archbishop of that Spanish city who, upon passing by the monastery where Geraldo directed the choir, was amazed by the beauty of the liturgical songs.

Biography

The music in Toledo Cathedral left much to be desired, and the archbishop asked Geraldo to direct the choir, which soon improved noticeably. Geraldo became famous for his musical abilities and his holiness, so that the clergy of Braga, Portugal, wanted to have him as bishop and the saint knew how to revive the fervor of that diocese de-Christianized by the Moors. It is said that he began his work with the many nobles who were dedicated to plundering, and that he converted them all. He died in Bornos, where he had gone to consecrate one of the numerous churches he had built.

Practical advice

In the middle of your ordinary work, prepare well for a conversation in which you must guide someone and end with a brief thanksgiving.
