July 30
German of Auxerre (380–446)
Bishop
He was born in Auxerre, France.
Biography
Already married and holding an important position, he was elected bishop of Auxerre. He was one of the most outstanding figures of his time. His influence spread throughout Gaul, being as esteemed by barbarian chiefs as by emperors. One of the homemade miracles attributed to him consisted of blessing wheat that the poultry of the region would later eat, because due to an epidemic disease, all the roosters in the region were hoarse and did not fulfill their task of waking up the people. By eating the wheat blessed by Saint Germán, they were immediately cured and the inhabitants of the region were able to get to their chores on time.
Practical advice
