He took part in the second Crusade (1147-1149).
Biography
Upon his return, he had two monasteries built: one at Neuffonds for himself; another in Aubepierre for his wife and daughter. Gilbert died at Neuffonds in 1152, his wife, Saint Peronilla, becoming abbess at Aubepierre. Upon her death, Blessed Poncia, her daughter, succeeded her.
