November 8
Godfrey (1066–1115)
Bishop
He was born in Soissons, France.
Biography
He was Benedictine abbot of Noget where he attracted numerous vocations. Later he was appointed bishop of Amiens, a position that would cause him much suffering. The new bishop took sides with an association of neighbors united against the tyranny and rapacity of the city's nobles, who banded together to persecute him and make his life impossible. Deprived of hope and friends, Godfrey escaped and headed to the Great Charterhouse where he hoped he could hide and live in peace. However, they forced him to return to his headquarters where he died a few months later.
Practical advice
