Gregory Ostiense (11th century)

religious

This saint, a native of Ostia, Italy, lived for a time in Navarre, Spain, as a legate of the Pope, and in the year 1039, he moved to Nájera, then capital of the kingdom where he caused admiration for his goodness, his wisdom and his miracles (one of them, making a plague of locusts disappear, explains why he is invoked in similar cases).

Biography

He probably died in Logroño. His life intersected with that of Saint Dominic, who was his page and disciple, and with him he began his religious life, and thus upon his death, Gregory, this almost unknown bishop, left as a legacy to the Spaniards, more than his prodigies, the living prodigy of another great saint. His head is preserved in a silver urn in the Basilica of San Gregorio, at the top of a mountain a few kilometers from the town of Los Arcos. This reliquary is often carried throughout the region, as a protector of the cultivated fields, and this justifies the saying: “Walk more than the head of Saint Gregory.”

Practical advice

Today, in the presence of God, seek to reconcile two people without increasing the conflict and start again with humility if it does not go well.
