Gregory VII, Pope

Pope

Practical advice

As soon as you have the opportunity, pray for the Pope, the bishops and the priests as someone who works and prays under the loving gaze of God.

Biography

(+ 1085) Monk of Cluny, Hildebrand, became Pope Gregory VII. He brought together a clear vision of the needs of his time with an unwavering mettle; He seriously fought to wrest the Church from the hands of feudal power and restore discipline among the clergy. Excommunicates and deposes the Holy Roman Emperor, Henry IV. He died in Salerno. Let us ask him so that all bishops and priests may be saints.
