Guido (950–1012)
confessor of faith
Guido was a simple peasant who, because he was a model of work and piety, was required to serve as sacristan in the church of Our Lady of Laecken, near Brussels, Belgium.
Biography
At one point, for having risked and lost all his savings in an unfortunate operation, he imposed seven years of penance on himself, during which he dedicated himself to pilgrimage, and it is known that he was in Rome and the Holy Land. He died unknown after his return to Anderlecht, where he was born, but the numerous miracles that took place around his grave made his cult quickly become popular. He is the patron saint of peasants, sacristans and bell ringers.
Practical advice
Without seeking recognition, be grateful for a simple joy of the day without leaving for tomorrow the good that you can do today.
