Guido Vagnotelli
Franciscan religious
(+1245) Guido was a nobleman from Tuscany, Italy, and on one occasion he received Saint Francis of Assisi and his companion with such hospitality and courtesy that Saint Francis commented that he would love him as one of his sons.
Biography
On one occasion when they met again, Saint Francis retired to pray that God would bless his path and Guido saw him from a window with his arms crossed and rising into the air at certain moments. Guido was so impressed that he asked Saint Francis to allow him to be one of his people. In 1211, Guido joined the Franciscan ranks and lived thirty more years in a cell on the edge of a stream near Cortona. He only went out from time to time to preach repentance in nearby towns.
Practical advice
As an offering to the Lord, pray for the missionaries and for those who do not yet know Christ, remembering that holiness is built in the ordinary.
